Minutes of Tele-conference 8/16/10

Roll Call

Professional Development

Neil McLaughlin reviewed the proposed professional development scheduled for January of 2011. Contracts being negotiated with the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell CT regarding a two day professional development in conjunction with Campus Security magazine. This would be held on January 10th and 11th. The winter board meeting would also occur at the hotel on January 6th and 9th. Room rates of $94 a night have been established also guarantees for space/electricity/food of $14,600. Rates set at $300 for vendors and $125 for attendees. Expect to draw attendees from NECUSA and with assistance of Campus Safety Magazine also K-12 and hospitals in the area.

Discussion about the amount of the guarantees and possibility of cancel date-Neil and Dave to continue working on the project and report back to the board.

Treasurer

Gary Bean reported that on 8/11/10 taxes filed for years 2006-2009- penalty letter is expected and account will reply with explanation to have penalties waived. This is usually granted but if not the cost could be 2-6 thousand per year.

Income from 2010 conference to date is $61,491 with $1,600 still expected and expenses of $41,500 with expected profit of $21,500.

Audit

Jim Bonner has RFP for audit and will be sending to several identified firms

President's Report

Mike McCarthy reported that he has received a verbal resignation from Tom Horan. Tom has left his position for a job with the DA's office. While he will stay connected with the association as an affiliate or life member he will not continue on the board.

Mike has the next copy of the Clipboard ready to edit and is looking for someone to take on the position Tom has held as editor.

It was agreed by the board members to send a letter of thanks to Tom for his years of service.
