Director of Campus Safety, Ursinus College

The Director of Campus Safety plays a key leadership role on the Student Affairs staff. The Director supervises un-sworn Campus Safety Officers and Student Dispatchers and provides guidance and visionary collaboration within the overall division. A high level of campus visibility and positive role modeling is essential. This position is full-time with on-call responsibilities and includes some evening and weekend hours. The Director reports to the Associate Dean of Students who reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students.

Primary responsibilities:
 Provide strategic vision and direction for Campus Safety program, working collaboratively with other Student Affairs programs to support the College’s mission
 Recruit, train, and supervise Team Leader, 8 Campus Safety Officers and 25 student Dispatchers
 Facilitate bi-weekly staff meetings and ongoing training for Campus Safety professional and para-professional staff
 Manage Campus Safety Officer shift activity and daily operations
 Audit, update and maintain Campus Safety Officer and Dispatcher protocols and procedures
 Coordinate online processes, including Officer and Dispatcher record-keeping system, ban maintenance, and guest registration
 Manage campus parking, including permit registration, violations and appeals, billing, and record-keeping
 Organize campus event support, including on and off-site parking, on-site security, emergency response, and building access and security.
 Coordinate office technology needs (e.g., radios and pagers)
 Manage department vehicles (SUV, golf cart, bikes) upkeep and improvement
 Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements (e.g. PA-UCR, Clery)
 Serve as liaison with on and off-campus constituents, including Facilities Services, Athletics, and Information Technology
 Advise student UC EMS program
 Serve as a member of the Crisis Response Team
 Act as a hearing officer for student conduct cases
 Develop and maintain community relationships with Collegeville Police, Collegeville Fire, Trappe Ambulance, and other local emergency responders
 Coordinate safety initiatives to address campus concerns
 Provide leadership and participate in committees for major campus events including New Student Orientation, Family Day, Homecoming, and Commencement


 Master’s Degree preferred and 7-10 years of significant professional experience in a supervisory capacity  Experience with security, emergency management, and crisis response  Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate others  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and celebration for diversity  Strong understanding and passion for a residential liberal education  Sensitivity to and understanding of contemporary higher education issues including but not limited to Sexual Violence, Mental Health, Race, Transgender Rights  Commitment to student development approach and philosophy  Collaborative and transparent approach to problem-solving
